Genevieve’s Summer Scoop Tank Top by Snuggle My Baby Patterns an adorable top for girls in sizes 2t-12 yrs. It has a high neckline and wide shoulders making it unique and can be worn into the fall! If you’re afraid of knits, this is the top for you! This was such a fast sew and so easy to put together. The instructions are very well written and each step is fully explained. It is very versatile with two basic options.
Option 1 is all knit. I used a printed knit, but how pretty would it be with a solid knit with and embroidered front.
Option 2 has an overlay on the bottom that can be chiffon, lace or a woven. I used a white knit with a sparkly organza overlay.
The unique hem also lends itself to embellishment with lace, bias binding ribbon trim or since knits do not fray, you don’t even need a finished hem. This pattern will become a staple in your little (or big) girl’s wardrobe!
And there is a Sew Along in their facebook group starting tonight! Go the the group for more information.
The Coffee Shop Lace Dress from Bella Sunshine Patterns is an adorable little dress with many options. This is an intermediate pattern that comes in sizes 12 months to Girls size 12. The lace trimmed bodice and lace trimmed hem give the perfect amount of sweetness for any girl. The bodice has a lace trimmed modesty panel which leads to showcasing some special fabric that you have been hoarding. The button backed bodice continues down with a placket in the shirt to make getting it on and off a breeze.
It is also available in short or long sleeves which make it perfect for year round wear. The directions are very clear and they have lots of pictures to help you with each step. This dress can be made with one fabric or you can get creative and use different fabrics. As you can tell ours is a Rapunzel inspired dress. My granddaughter loves it and doesn’t want to take it off. And as only a 3 year old can do, she can feel her hair growing every time she wears this dress!
I can see many more of these dresses in the future!
Alex’s Rashguard was Released by Create Kids Couture. We had a chance to test the long sleeved version. Since a rash guard is supposed to be close fitting, definitely make sure to go by the measurement chart. My grandson is on the lanky side I made a size 4 with a size 6 in length.
Don’t let sewing with swimwear throw you off either. The directions take you step by step thru making this rash guard with either a sewing machine or a serger. Actual sewing time was less than 30 minutes.
Issue 8 of One Thimble Magazine has released! Featured are the Butterfly Swing Top and Swing Set Skort from Birdsong Patterns. These patterns are only available in the magazine or through the One Thimble Store.
I had the pleasure of testing these two patterns. They make the perfect school outfit. The Swing Set Skort has an eight gored skirt that gives plenty of twirl factor while hiding the shorts underneath. Leave off the shorts and you have a cute twirl skirt!
The Butterfly Blouse is very roomy with a single pleat in the front, a wide neck and flutter sleeves. It is a very easy pattern to sew and great for anyone beginning to sew with knits. This duo the perfect combination of girlyness and practicality.
GYTC Patterns have released their Polka Dot Peplum Top onto their website. It comes in sizes 3 months to 12 years. It’s the perfect top for year round. It features puffed sleeves and a gathered skirt, everything a girly girl needs! My granddaughter loves it!
I chose to close the back with buttons, but you could easily use snaps!
This is a great beginner pattern, the directions are very precise and clear with plenty of illustrations to help you along. It’s easy to cut out and sews up quickly!
Two new patterns from Birdsong Patterns– The Swing Set Skort and Butterfly Blouse will be featured in One Thimble Magazine Issue 8 launching August 14th (Australian Time).
